Launching BACLS

After a very positive Inaugural Meeting at the What Happens Now conference at the University of Lincoln on Wednesday 29th June 2016, BACLS is preparing for a formal launch in January 2017 when membership will open. Over the course of the coming months the subject association is being led by a Pre-Organisational Committee established at the Exploratory Meeting at Leeds Beckett University in May 2016. Nominations are now being accepted for anyone interested in standing for election to the Executive Committee for the period 2016-2018.

The following is a timetable describing the necessary steps involved in formalising the association:

10th August Deadline for nominations (either by self-nomination, or nomination of a colleague)
11th August – 12th September Voting process opens; all nominations will be uploaded to the BACLS webpage at https://www.bacls.org/about/executive-committee-nominations/ so that interested parties can decide who to vote for; votes will be cast using this webpage (N.B. each individual will be allowed to cast one vote per Executive Committee position).
15th September Having closed, votes will be counted and an announcement will be made about the members of the first Executive Committee.
Autumn 2016 Executive Committee will meet.
January 2017 BACLS Membership will formally open; from this point onwards, colleagues will need to pay Membership Subs to continue receiving the BACLS newsletter/email updates, and to submit an abstract or workshop proposal at the next What Happens Now Conference.
